Tenuta di Biserno Tuscan Villa

Tenuta di Biserno is a 90-hectare estate; situated in coastal, western Tuscany, hidden amongst the hills of Bibbona in the Upper Maremma, cooled by sea breezes it has perfect viticultural conditions. Lodovico Antinori embarked on this exciting project having sold his famous Bolgheri estate Tenuta dell’Ornellaia in 2002 and entered into partnership with his brother Marchese Piero Antinori.

Lodovico had spotted the property which would become Tenuta di Biserno in 1994, when he was scouting for land suitable for extending Ornellaia. What he saw excited him but he recognised that the geology and geography was so different from that of Ornellaia, hillier and stonier, that it would have to be a separate project.

Bibbona actually borders the Bolgheri DOC, and whilst the terroir is different, both areas are better suited to the planting of Bordeaux varietals with one major difference: at Biserno Lodovico has utilised the Cabernet Franc grape in a greater percentage, followed by Merlot with a small percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon and a greater percentage of Petit Verdot.

Tenuta di Biserno is Lodovico Antinoris’ ultimate project and a testimony to his great talents; the wines are outstanding.
