In 1970, Wolf hired his first winemaker, John Glaetzer - who was later appointed to the role of Senior Winemaker in 1974 - and the two formed a formidable partnership and one of Australia’s most successful winemaking teams. The most iconic red wine in the Wolf Blass stable, Black Label was launced in 1973. This wine is not about individual regions or varieties, but rather about crafting the finest blend from South Australian vineyards. With intricate complexity, intensity of fruit and magnificent structure, this is a wine to be savoured during life's extraordinary moments.
