Wolf Blass was established in the Barossa Valley in 1966 by Wolfgang Franz Otto Blass and has since grown from a humble tin shed to become one of the world’s most successful and awarded wineries. A recipient of more than 8,000 medals and trophies the essence of Wolf Blass wines is exemplified by the winemakers who continuously strive to produce wines of quality, character and consistency.
In 1970, Wolf hired his first winemaker, John Glaetzer - who was later appointed to the role of Senior Winemaker in 1974 - and the two formed a formidable partnership and one of Australia’s most successful winemaking teams. The most iconic red wine in the Wolf Blass stable, Black Label was launced in 1973. This wine is not about individual regions or varieties, but rather about crafting the finest blend from South Australian vineyards. With intricate complexity, intensity of fruit and magnificent structure, this is a wine to be savoured during life's extraordinary moments.
