Fattoria Aldobrandesca Vie Cave Malbec 2020
Antinori's Fattoria Aldobrandesca estate is located in the southern part of the Tuscan Maremma, at the heart of what is known as the “Etruscan zone of tufa rock”. This wine is dedicated to the “vie cave”, or “hollow roads”, Etruscan roadways which deeply crisscross the township of Sovana and reveal ancient travel routes. The Vie Cave Malbec was created after careful geological and oenological research highlighted the great potential this grape variety has to offer in the unique Maremma terroir. Aged for 10 months in French oak and then a further year in bottle before release, the Vie Cave Malbec is intense ruby red in colour. Its nose is captivating and complex: notes of dark ripe fruit, blackberries and blueberries, alternate with spicy hint of vanilla. The palate is balanced and well-defined by silky tannins. Its lengthy, persistent finish is accented with aromas perceived on the nose accompanied by pleasant hints of coffee and dark chocolate.
