Champagne Philipponnat Réserve Perpétuelle Brut NV
Philipponnat is a legendary, family-owned Champagne house based in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, renowned for its strong heritage and its unique focus on Pinot Noir (which typically makes up over 65% of this blend). The depth and complexity of this Brut NV come from Philipponnat's innovative Réserve Perpétuelle (Perpetual Reserve) system, which takes its name from the eponymous Champagne practice of progressively blending the current year’s wines with wines from previous vintages. The idea is to preserve the freshness of the blend through successive renewals without losing any of the complexity acquired through ageing. This is a Pinot Noir dominant Champagne (65%), giving it weight, body, and structure. Pale gold in colour with a delicate, persistent mousse, the nose displays rich aromas of dried fruit, toasted brioche, honey, and citrus zest. The palate is broad and generous on the attack, evolving into a long, profound finish with fantastic minerality and refreshing acidity.
