Chéne Bleu Aliot 2015
Chêne Bleu Aliot is a rich, oak-aged Roussanne blend named after Aliot de Montvin, the glassblower who purchased the property in 1427 and changed its name to La Verrière. The high altitude and protracted ripening season at Chéne Bleu led the team to consider planting white wine varietals, despite their southern latitude. Many people discouraged it, but fortunately they followed their own judgment and subsequently this flagship white has won awards from its first vintage. The rich fruit concentration and freshness take oak well so they decided to make a true "vin-de-garde". Perfumed and powerful this Burgundy-style white wine combines Roussanne, Grenache Blanc and Marsanne grapes alongside a touch of Viognier. A beautiful golden yellow in colour the nose is rich and complex with notes of lemongrass, toasted almonds and sweet,
buttery brioche. The palate is fresh, full-bodied yet elegant and refined with hints of acidity, light minerality and vanilla notes. The finish is intense and long. Chêne Bleu Aliot pairs beautifully with salmon or poultry in white sauce, pâté and traditional French cheese.
