Doghouse Distillery Baller Vodka
Based in a railway arch in Battersea, Doghouse Distillery didn’t take its name from the neighbouring Dogs Home, but rather the propensity of its head distiller to land himself in trouble after a night on the sauce. That man is Braden Saunders, who describes himself as a closet hipster who couldn’t grow a beard so he makes booze instead. He and his team take wheat, mill it, mash it, brew it, ferment it and then distil it, all with their bare hands. And it’s doggone good. Recently awarded "Best Spirit" in Great Britain in the 2019 Great British Food Awards, Baller is London's only vodka made fully from scratch using 100% English wheat. Full of attitude, this baller is totally unfiltered (no flavour stripping in the Doghouse!) and loaded with character. You will get sweet cereal aromas on the nose and hints of biscuit, clove & cacao on the palate. It has a silky yet structured mouthfeel and an unbelievably smooth finish. The double-sided label for 'Baller' depicts a Jack Russell beating a bunch of Dobermans at Poker; representing the underdog with a cocky attitude - "Baller"! - and was designed by Sydney street artist Alex Lehours in a pop-comic style.
