Electric Spirit Co. Achroous Gin
Achroous pronounced (‘Ach’ like ‘Bach’, ‘roo’ like ‘blue’, ‘us’ like ‘fuss’) is the award winning signature Gin from the Electric Spirit Co. Distillery. Taking its name from ancient Greek, 'Achroous' (meaning colourless) is produced at the Tower Street Stillhouse in Leith and shares its distillery as a cooperative with Port of Leith Distillery (makers of Lind and Lime). It incorporates seven botanicals in total: Juniper Berries, Coriander Seeds, Angelica Root, Liquorice Root, Orris Root, Sichuan Peppercorns and Fennel Seed. The first five are the backbone of the gin, giving a rich, resinous base to the spirit, whilst the last two are rather special. The Sichuan peppercorn gives a fizzy spiced, citrus flavour, and a woody, floral aroma and the fennel seed gives a hint of herbaceous aniseed, and an earthy note on the nose. The result is an aromatic gin with a solid whack of juniper, a slight anis sweetness from the addition of fennel seed, as well as fragrant earthy and citrus notes provided by a good handful of Sichuan peppercorns. This is a classic London Dry Gin with a modern twist. No fruit flavourings, no added sugar, just a perfectly crafted spirit presented in an incredible bottle. Distilled in small batches Achroous is one of Scotland's Best Gins and voted one of the Top Ten in the entire world at the International Wine & Spirit Challenge.
