Sir Edmond Bourbon Vanilla Infused Gin
The Sir Edmond Bourbon Vanilla Infused Gin is a Dutch gin made in Schiedam by one of the best distilleries in the world: Herman Jansen. The family business started in 1777 and has been distilling spirits for almost 250 years. This multi-award winning gin takes 8 weeks to craft (compared to a normal gin that can be made within 24 hours!) and is the smoothest most refined gin imaginable! First, all botanicals are distilled in two separate pot stills - except the Bourbon vanilla, because distilling vanilla at a high temperature would destroy its flavour. Instead, it’s infused in alcohol for six weeks. It’s a cold infusion to ensure the release of more delicate and complex aroma’s. After the two liquids are blended together, the substance is put into a resting tank for one week to achieve perfect harmony. The nose is inviting, rich and a harmonious blend of juniper, cardamom, vanilla, hints of ginger and earthy angelica. The palate is full-flavoured, smooth and velvety in texture with vanilla and cardamom notes moving into subtle cinnamon and juniper with a fine touch of ginger. The finish is long, dry and not too sweet. The blend of vanilla, cardamom, ginger and cinnamon results in a truly unique finish and unusual character. Very easy to sip served neat over ice or works wonderfully in a gin and tonic and is very interesting as a cocktail base.
