Cobb Cole Ranch Vineyard Riesling 2020
The Cole Ranch Vineyard monopole is both a vineyard and its own appellation (AVA) as it is isolated on highway 253, between the towns of Boonville and Ukiah. With no vineyards in any direction for miles, Cole Ranch has a truly unique microclimate. At one-quarter square mile, this is easily the smallest appellation in America. Perched between 1200-1600 ft in elevation the vineyard is surprisingly cool despite being relatively inland and in an environment filled with oak trees. Only the second vintage of this wine to be released, the Cobb Cole Ranch Vineyard Riesling is matured in neutral oak puncheons for 6 months prior to release. It delivers soft scents of white peach, lime peel, baker’s yeast and petrol with an undercurrent of crushed stone. The light-bodied palate is dry and textural, with tangy acidity, citrus-driven flavours and a long, juicy finish.
