Pyramid Valley 'Angel Flower' Pinot Noir 2022
The Pyramid Valley 'Angel Flower' Pinot Noir is part of the estates 'Botanicals' collection and are the pinnacle of achievement at Pyramid Valley. Each wine is named after the common colloquial name of the meadow plant dominant in its respective vineyard block and since their release in 2006 have created a new dimension for fine New Zealand wine, illustrating the incredible impact of this remarkable vineyard on the sense of wine. They are wines that truly breathe of their place. At the winery, the grapes were carefully hand sorted, fully destemmed and fermented with wild yeasts using infusion methods for 21-27 days. Settled in tank before being transferred to French wooden barrels. Elevage of 18 months, then bottled unfined and unfiltered. The Pyramid Valley 'Angel Flower' Pinot Noir has a beautifully expressive nose of rose petals and dried herbs, the complexity leaps out of the glass. The palate has a silky texture, with crushed red fruits and velvet mineral acidity. Fine tannins support this elegantly floral and savoury expression of Angel Flower. Great length, subtle flavours that linger long. A elegant wine that has understated power.
