Shafer Vineyards One Point Five Cabernet Sauvignon 2017
The Shafer One Point Five Cabernet Sauvignon expresses the classic aromas and flavours of California's Stags Leap District, where the Shafers have lived and worked for decades. The name on the bottle speaks of the family partnership at the heart of the Shafer Vineyards. John Shafer started the winery in 1978 and his son Doug joined him as winemaker in 1983. They've worked together so long they coined the term "a generation-and-a-half" to describe the collaboration, inspiring the name One Point Five. Matured for 20 months in 100% new French oak, One Point Five introduces itself with enticing aromas of red and black fruit, baking spice, dark violets, lavender, wet stone, and cinnamon. On the palate, the promise of all that delicious complexity is fulfilled with a racy Cabernet Sauvignon full of juicy flavours including red plum, cherry, cassis, black tea, and cola, all beautifully packaged together with ripe, bright tannins made for immediate enjoyment as well as long term ageing.
