Lothian of Elgin Pinot Noir Vineyard Selection 2020
Fruit for the Lothian of Elgin Pinot Noir comes from a 3.25ha vineyard planted to two different clones. The grapes were all hand harvested, destemmed and then fermented in open fermenters for a period of ten days. The must was lightly pressed, racked off into French oak barrique (20% new) and malo-lactic fermentation occurs in barrique. The wine was barrel matured for a period of eleven months and lightly filtered prior to bottling to maintain the wines integrity and delicate Pinot flavours. This Pinot Noir offers attractive oak spices, red plum, orange and some oatmeal. Lovely ripeness of fruit on the palate, this has fabulous balance of juicy ripe fruits with dark chocolate, orange and strawberry and red berries with a crisp clean acidity, powdery but light tannins and undulating length of flavour on the extended finish.
