McLaren Vale Vineyards in South Australia

The McLaren Vale wine region is one of the greatest and oldest names in Australian wine and one that ranks with other classic regions such as Coonawarra and the Barossa. The birthplace of wine production in South Australia the McLaren Vale is a picturesque and diverse region nestled between the Mount Lofty Ranges and the white, sandy beaches of the Gulf of St Vincent.

With a mediterranean climate the region has for decades been lauded for its ability to produce outstanding wines from an array of noble grape varieties including Shiraz, Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon and more recently upcoming grape varieties like Nero d'Avola, Fiano and Vermentino.

The McLaren Vale is also one of the more environmentally conscious wine regions in Australia with a large percentage of its boutique wineries exploring organic and biodynamic wine production or employing sustainable farming methods.
