Montes Alpha Malbec 2018
The grapes for the Montes Alpha Malbec come from Montes' own vineyards in Apalta and Marchigüe, arguably two of the finest sites in the Colchagua Valley. The sites are irrigated via a 'Sustainable Dry Farmed' system, developed by Aurelio and his team, which allows for extremely precise and minimal irrigating, reducing their water footprint by 65%. Intense purplish-ruby red in colour with a fruity nose recalling ripe black fruits such as blackberries and blueberries, complimented by notes of caramel and yogurt. The toasty aromas from 12 months in French oak barrels lend complexity. The palate is dense, voluptuous and well balanced. Nice tannins pair perfectly with ripe black fruits such as plums as well as sweet spices and vanilla notes.
