C.V.N.E Contino Rioja Viña del Olivo 2018

Contino is C.V.N.E's pioneering 62ha estate located on the banks of the Ebro n 1973 Contino became the first single estate Rioja. The pioneering 62ha estate on the bank of the Ebro with foundations dating from the 16th century. The name Contino refers to the Royal Guard of 100 soldiers who continually - 'de contino' - guarded the King. In 1973, inspired by the concept of the 'Bordeaux Château', Contino became the first single estate Rioja. The Contino Rioja Viña del Olivio is a great wine made from a small parcel of old Tempranillo and Graciano vines that surround an 800 year old olive tree on the Contino Estate. The wine is aged for 17 months in French, American and Hungarian oak barrels, each adding complexity and its own nuance to the wine. Viña del Olivo displays great aromas of fruit with an elegant complexity and richness of tannins, highlighting the spicy hints in perfect balance with the fruity nuances. Touches of red fruit and balsamic notes like anise, mint or liquorice. The palate has great structure, rounded, with tannins of mature fruit and high quality barrels. It is a well balanced complex wine o great power and concentration.

Vintage Availability

We endeavour to display accurate and current vintages on all our wines listed on the website; however, from time to time stocks of the vintage listed do become exhausted. If this is the case with your order we will always contact you to recommend another vintage of the same wine, if it is still available. If the vintage of a wine is important to you then please leave a note at checkout advising us of this.

Stock Availability

As we are retail stockists, selling from our Ledston shop as well as online, it makes it difficult for us to show a 'real-time' inventory of our wines and spirits online. As such, very occasionally, a wine may be out of stock that the website has allowed you to order.

To ensure a timely delivery, we are happy to substitute your order with a similar wine of equal or higher value and at no additional cost to you!

If this is not an acceptable solution please advise us in the 'Add A Comment' section at the checkout.
