Vietti Barolo Brunate 2019
The Nebbiolo grapes for this Vietti Barolo are sourced from the historical Cru vineyard of Brunate, which is located in the municipality of La Morra, on the south-facing slopes towards the town of Barolo. The average age of the vines is 55 years. The soil is calcareous and clayey with a presence of Marne di Sant’Agata, a limestone-rich marl in which the Nebbiolo variety really thrives and produces balanced, elegant wines. At the winery the grapes were destemmed and gently crushed before being transferred into stainless steel tanks for fermentation. The wine was transferred to oak where malolactic conversion took place. The wine was matured for 32 months in large Slavonian and French oak casks and was bottled without filtration. The Vietti Barolo Brunate is a supple and elegant Barolo with expressive fruit aromas, spicy overtones and distinctive violet notes typical of the Brunate vineyard, through to a liquorice sensation on the long finish.
