Artadi La Hoya 2020
Artadi La Hoya, is a single-vineyard Tempranillo sourced from a 3.6 hectare plot planted in Elvillar de Álava (Basque Country) on deep clay-loam soils with organic matter on the surface. The grapes are grown organically without the use of chemical products that could alter the natural balance of the terroir and the grapes are harvested by hand with the clusters and berries selected in the vineyard itself. At the winery the La Hoya grapes are de-stemmed and crushed to begin vinification in open tanks. Fermentation lasts 10-12 days with two cap plunges per day and a light pumping over. Malolactic fermentation takes place in 225-litre French oak barrels where it remains for 12 months before bottling. Artadi La Hoya displays aromas of red fruits fused in complex phenolic notes that generate depth in the nose. A marked personality that is structured on the palate, fruity, and with a round, broad tannic maturity that makes it easily recognisable. La Hoya generally sells out on release.
