Compass Box Glasgow Blend Scotch Whisky
The Compass Box Glasgow Blend is the richer, bolder, and smokier counterpoint to the more delicate Artist Blend. This whisky pays homage to a historical preference among Glaswegian whisky drinkers for fuller-bodied, more flavour-packed drams—a preference noted as far back as the 1930s. Crafted by John Glaser, this expression features a high proportion of quality single malt (approx. 67%), including peated Islay malts and Highland whiskies, blended with Lowland grain spirit. The result is a full, complex, and intensely satisfying blend designed to be rich enough to handle cold weather, rich food, or powerful cocktails. The Glasgow Blend unites smoky intensity with rich, fruit-driven sweetness, offering depth and complexity. On the nose there is rich spice and dried fruit (raisins, fig) from the Sherry casks which mingle beautifully with a medium vein of salty smoke and hints of vanilla. The palate is full and bold, immediately delivering a hit of smoky embers and fruitcake-like spice (cinnamon, nutmeg). The mouthfeel is round and satisfying, with the sweetness from the sherry balancing the maritime punch of the Islay malt. The finish is long, warm, and lingering, carrying notes of sweet spices and residual peat smoke.
