Villa Wolf Dry Riesling 2023
The Villa Wolf estate is owned and run by Ernst Loosen, who also runs the world famous Dr Loosen estate in the Mosel. The wines from here reflect the warmer climate of the Pfalz, making them dry and surprisingly powerful, whilst never loosing the freshness and finesse that are hallmarks of great German wines. The Riesling grapes were harvested at optimal ripeness for a bright, fresh style. No overripe or botrytis-affected fruit is allowed and the grapes are processed as quickly as possible to preserve freshness. Cool fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks and there is no malolactic fermentation, only light filtration and no fining before bottling. Pale lemon in colour, the nose displays powerful aromas of stone fruit and minerals. Mouthwatering acidity is balanced by the sweet fruit flavours and a clean long finish.
