Bedoba Orange 2021

Bedboba Orange wine is made from 70% Rkatsiteli and 30% Kisi, which are Georgian grape varieties with unique characteristics. The Rkatsiteli comes from 25 year old vines grown on 8 metres of blue slate soil. This lends the grapes a very strong personality and concentration. The Kisi grapes come from younger vineyards, planted closer to the hill in a cooler microclimate on limestone soil. At the winery the Rkatsiteli went directly into qvevri amphoras as whole bunches. Fermentation was carried out with only indigenous yeasts, with regular punch downs. Following fermentation, the top of the qvevri was closed and the wine was stored until March of the following year. During this time, malolactic fermentation was carried out. In March, the wine was pressed and transferred to a new qvevri for ageing. About 10% of the wine was transferred to new oak barrels. The Kisi was fully destemmed and fermented at 16°C in stainless steel tanks, where the wine was filtered after alcoholic fermentation to prevent malolactic fermentation. This wine mesmerises with flavours of dried apricot, honey, orange peel, and wild herbs. It has a captivating texture and complexity.

Delivery Times

We aim to to have your delivery with you within 5-7 working days of receiving your order, but often it can be much sooner. If you need your order by a certain date please get in touch and we'll do our best to get it to you as required.

Vintage Availability

We endeavour to display accurate and current vintages on all our wines listed on the website; however, from time to time stocks of the vintage listed do become exhausted. If this is the case with your order we will always contact you to recommend another vintage of the same wine, if it is still available. If the vintage of a wine is important to you then please leave a note at checkout advising us of this.

Stock Availability

As we are retail stockists, selling from our Ledston shop as well as online, it makes it difficult for us to show a 'real-time' inventory of our wines and spirits online. As such, very occasionally, a wine may be out of stock that the website has allowed you to order.

To ensure a timely delivery, we are happy to substitute your order with a similar wine of equal or higher value and at no additional cost to you!

If this is not an acceptable solution please advise us in the 'Add A Comment' section at the checkout.

The Producer Bedoba | Kakheti

Bedoba Vineyards in Kakheti, Georgia

Made from the indigenous grape variety Saperavi and partially vinified in traditional qvevri vessels, Bedoba means `Day of Luck’. Winemakers Nugzar Ksovreli and Thierry Fontannaz found inspiration in the history and legacy of the winery’s founders, the Konchosvilli family, whose cellars date back to 1737. The label references the bishop...

Organic Vines in Vineyard

It is estimated that there are more than 10,000 grape varieties in present commercial production, yet this probably includes the same grapes under other names. With the increase of DNA fingerprinting it is thought that the real number might come down closer to 5,000. Many varieties of grape are known...
