Finca Villacreces Pruno 2018
Pruno was developed by the team at Finca Villacreces a few years ago with the intention of making a Ribera del Duero style that could be enjoyed earlier than their flagship red wine. Hailed as the best Spanish wine under $20 by Robert Parker 'Pruno' is a blend of 90% Tempranillo and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in second and third-year French oak barrels. Grapes are only taken from Finca Villacreces’ own vineyards, from slightly younger vines and Organic practises are used as much as possible. Pruno is deep, black cherry in colour. Aromas of red berry fruit and hints of toffee from French oak ageing give way to a fruit-driven palate. Notes of concentrated cherry fruit and liquorice, lead to a juicy finish.
