John Duval Entity Shiraz 2019
The John Duval Entity Shiraz is sourced from some of the oldest vineyards in the Krondorf, Ebenezer, Moppa and Tanunda regions of the north and east Barossa. For the 2019 vintage, 11% of the Shiraz came from cooler sites in the Eden Valley, to maintain the elegant style of this wine. At the winery, the parcels of fruit were fermented separately in small stainless steel fermenters with submerged caps and twice daily pump-overs. After fermentation, the wines were aged for 15 months in 35% new fine grain French oak hogsheads (300L) with the remaining in older French hogsheads and puncheons. Entity Shiraz is a vibrant purple-red in colour with aromas of plum, boysenberry and blackcurrants and hints of anise and cloves. On the palate, fine tannins are balanced by a vibrant acidity and layers of rich dark fruits. Hints of dark chocolate and earthy spices carry through to the long finish.
