Les Vergers de la Morinière Calvados Pays d'Auge 2002

Astrid Hubert only makes single vintage Calvados which is of sublime quality. She uses 15 varieties of apples, together with 5% of pears, and never sprays her crop. The cider is left in foudres for 1 year before distillation, the Calvados then being matured in long old oak barrels. Complex in taste, round and very long on the finish.

Apple Delight!

Totally met expectations. Inviting delicate Aroma with distinct apple tones. When you finally drag your nose from the glass you will find it light on the palate, with a long lasting flavour and gentle warmth, rather than fire. At almost 20 yrs it has matured to perfection and avoids the overt intensity of very old brandies. For me Calvados doesn't get better than this, good value and an absolute delight.
