Château Montus Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh Sec 2015

The Château Montus Blanc Sec is a white wine made from Petit Courbu (70%) and Petit Manseng (30%)sourced from the Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh Sec appellation, one of the oldest appellations in France. Here, Alain Brumont has focussed relentlessly on experimenting with barrels for 20 years and the Château Montus Sec has received the full benefit of these efforts. This wine's special character is due to its vinification and ageing in 600 litre barrels, called demi-muids (made from wooden staves that are more than four centimetres thick) and matured for up to 15 months. The impact of the wood on the wine is reduced, with a more mellow woodiness, beneficial to the preservation of the fruity aromas, while maintaining a perfect balance, for a very expressive, high quality wine. The Petit Courbu brings silkiness, body and a mellow texture, accompanied by floral notes, fruitiness and freshness. The Petit Manseng brings minerality, a richness and rigour to the aromas. The woodiness is subtle and well integrated and the palate has great length, volume and freshness. When young, during the first 3-4 years, this wine pairs perfectly with fish (sea bass, turbot), white meat, or Aquitaine caviar. From 6 to 15 years old try alongside foie gras, the smoothness and body of the wine complement this dish perfectly.

Delivery Times

We aim to to have your delivery with you within 5-7 working days of receiving your order, but often it can be much sooner. If you need your order by a certain date please get in touch and we'll do our best to get it to you as required.

Vintage Availability

We endeavour to display accurate and current vintages on all our wines listed on the website; however, from time to time stocks of the vintage listed do become exhausted. If this is the case with your order we will always contact you to recommend another vintage of the same wine, if it is still available. If the vintage of a wine is important to you then please leave a note at checkout advising us of this.

Stock Availability

As we are retail stockists, selling from our Ledston shop as well as online, it makes it difficult for us to show a 'real-time' inventory of our wines and spirits online. As such, very occasionally, a wine may be out of stock that the website has allowed you to order.

To ensure a timely delivery, we are happy to substitute your order with a similar wine of equal or higher value and at no additional cost to you!

If this is not an acceptable solution please advise us in the 'Add A Comment' section at the checkout.

The Producer Château Montus | Madiran

Château Montus was a vision purchased by Alain Brumont in 1980 with 12 hectares and today expanded to 85 hectares. Unlike most of Madiran, the soil at Montus is similar to Châteauneuf-du-Pape, large pebbles or galets some 20in to 6ft in depth over a clay soil, and the slopes are...
