Theopetra Estate Limniona 2021

Limniona is a native Greek red variety originating in Thessalia, in Northern Central Greece. The Theopetra Estate vineyard sits on the hillside slopes of PGI Meteora around the Meteora Rocks and the Cave of Theopetra. Here, the climate is continental, with cold winters and sunny, dry summers. Frequent northerly winds from the Pindos Mountain cool the vines and prevent the development of disease. High diurnal temperature ranges during spring and summer impart the grapes with intense aromas, high natural acidity and concentrated flavours. The Limniona grapes were hand-picked and carefully sorted. At the winery, whole bunch fermentation took place with selected yeasts lasting for five days before being transferred to a pneumatic press for gentle pressing. Malolactic conversion took place to soften and round out the palate. The wine was aged in French oak barriques (90%) and American oak barriques (10%) mostly of second use for 12 months, before being bottle aged for a further 12 months. The Theopetra Estate Limniona is a supple, elegant and fruity red wine with aromas of cherry, raspberry, sweet quince and dried figs complemented by hints of nutmeg, clove and black pepper. On the palate, silky tannins with ripe, red berried flavours and a long, smooth finish.

Delivery Times

We aim to to have your delivery with you within 5-7 working days of receiving your order, but often it can be much sooner. If you need your order by a certain date please get in touch and we'll do our best to get it to you as required.

Vintage Availability

We endeavour to display accurate and current vintages on all our wines listed on the website; however, from time to time stocks of the vintage listed do become exhausted. If this is the case with your order we will always contact you to recommend another vintage of the same wine, if it is still available. If the vintage of a wine is important to you then please leave a note at checkout advising us of this.

Stock Availability

As we are retail stockists, selling from our Ledston shop as well as online, it makes it difficult for us to show a 'real-time' inventory of our wines and spirits online. As such, very occasionally, a wine may be out of stock that the website has allowed you to order.

To ensure a timely delivery, we are happy to substitute your order with a similar wine of equal or higher value and at no additional cost to you!

If this is not an acceptable solution please advise us in the 'Add A Comment' section at the checkout.

The Producer Theopetra Estate | Meteora

At the foot of Meteora Rocks and around the prehistoric Cave of Theopetra, signs of human existence and evolution date back to the Paleolithic era, including the discovery of grape seeds which demonstrate the ancient coexistence of Meteora with the vine and wine.
