Amaro Lucano
Amaro Lucano is an authentic Italian herbal liqueur (Amaro) created in 1894 by Pasquale Vena in the Basilicata region of Italy. Made from a secret family recipe passed down through four generations, it is created by blending more than 30 carefully selected herbs and botanicals. Its deep, complex flavor profile makes it a staple for traditional Italian after-dinner sipping (digestivo) and a versatile component in modern cocktail recipes. Highly aromatic and complex it displays notes of licorice, bitter orange, dried fig and eucalyptus, balanced by spicy undertones of cinnamon and clove. The initial sip is medium-sweet, quickly followed by a pleasant bitterness that coats the palate. Key flavors include bitter roots (gentian, artemisia), caramelized citrus peel, and a hint of medicinal herbs and spices. The finish is long, velvety and persistent, with a lingering echo of orange zest and deep herbal root structure, prompting refreshment. Best served neat, chilled, with ice or orange zest. Perfect as a base for cocktails.
