Wine By Grape Variety | Furmint

Healthy organic vines in vineyard with grass and crop cover

Furmint is a white grape variety grown primarily in Hungary and Slovakia and is the dominant grape variety in the production of Hungary's most famous vinous export; Tokaji Aszú. It is most commonly planted in the Tokaj-Hegyalja region of Hungary and the variety's biting acidity gives wines legendary longevity and, when blended with Harslevelu and Muscat Blanc a Petits Grains, Furmint can produce some of the most complex and longest-living wines in the world. The grape is also grown widely to produce acidic but sturdy dry white wine wines.
