Dreissigacker 'Vintages' St. Laurent | Pinot Noir NV
Jochen Dreissigacker's latest project ‘Vintages’ reinforces his reputation for innovation. Inspired by the meticulous work of the cellar masters in Champagne, Jochen is determined to show that still wines can gain depth and complexity from the skilful art of blending different, but complementary, vintages. The fruit for the `Vintages` St. Laurent / Pinot Noir is sourced from a selection of Jochen’s vineyards within the village of Bechtheim. The best sites include Hasensprung, Geyersberg and the neigbouring Rosengarten. These vineyards see plenty of sunshine all year round, resulting in richer wines, full of character. The Vintages red is a harmonious ensemble of St. Laurent and Spätburgunder grapes from the 2018 and 2017 harvest. Fermented separately before blending and ageing in barriques for three years, this multi-vintage wine has a dark ruby red colour. The nose is elegant with a charming bouquet of juicy berries, dark cherries and plums. The toasty aromas following extended maturation in oak are well integrated. On the palate, the wine has a well-balanced tannic structure and a silky texture.
