Domaine Georges Vernay Blonde du Seigneur Côte Rôtie 2016
Christine Vernay is recognised as one of the Northern Rhône's most gifted wine makers and is gaining increasing recognition for her red wines as well as her celebrated Condrieu. The Côte Rôtie 'Blonde du Seigneur' is made from Syrah (97%) and a touch of Viognier (3%) sourced from mature vines (30+ years old) grown on the 'Côte Blonde' schist slopes of the Côte-Rôtie appellation. The Blonde du Seigneur Côte Rôtie is the perfect blend of intensity and delicacy. Dark in colour with a mineral smoky nose of dark fruits, black olive and pepper all enhanced by a floral component brought by the addition of Viognier. This is a highly aromatic and elegant wine. Round with good structure and smooth, silky tannins, this wine has great finesse and a long, persistent finish.
