Storm Vrede Pinot Noir 2019
The Storm Wines 'Vrede' Pinot Noir is sourced from a steep, northeast-facing slope in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley with low-vigour, stony, clay-rich Bokkeveld shale soil. Soft, spicy and an incredibly seductive Pinot Noir, Vrede is a mere 1.5km from the ocean and benefits from prevailing winds that maintain a sense of freshness and salinity in the ripe red fruit and spicy profile of the wine. Aged in 25% new oak for 11 months and 15 months in bottle prior to release, succulent violet rose petals and ripe summer strawberries envelop the nose in this silky, generous Pinot Noir. The wine shows depth, purity and structure, characteristic of the site’s low-vigour, stony, clay rich shale soils.
