Ferraton Père et Fils Ermitage Le Méal 2019
The Ferraton Père et Fils Ermitage Le Méal is a red wine made from 100% Syrah. The grapes are sourced from one of the most revered vineyards - Le Méal - located within the Hermitage appellation, a region in the northern Rhône renowned for producing some of the world's finest Syrah. The Le Méal vineyard is characterised by its south-facing exposure, complex soils and vines over 30 years old, which all factor in to this wines distinct character and outstanding quality. At the winery the hand-picked grapes are carefully sorted and destemmed. Maceration takes place in concrete vats for about 4 weeks (depending on the vintage) and maturation of the wine lasts upto 18 months in a combination of new and used oak. The Ferraton Ermitage Le Méal displays aromas of blackberries, blackcurrants and plums, intertwined with elegant floral notes, hints of spices and a delicate leather note. On the palate, the wine is powerful with velvety tannins and well integrated oak. Ripe dark fruit flavours dominate alongside subtle notes of black pepper, liquorice and a hint of smokiness. The wine’s superb balance, depth and length contribute to its overall elegance and ability to age gracefully for many years.
