South Africa | Coastal Region
The Coastal wine region is considered to be the historic birthplace of South Africa's wine industry and is arguably the country's most prolific wine producing region of high-quality, award-winning wines. The region contains nearly half of South Africa's land under vine and is home to the longest established wine growing areas, which are to be found closest to Cape Town.
Its boundaries follow the Atlantic coastline stretching from Darling in the north to Cape Point and Constantia in the south and eastwards to both Stellenbosch and Paarl.
Encompassing eight districts and 17 wards within South Africa’s Western Cape, the Coastal Region includes South Africa’s top wine-producing regions: Cape Town, Franschhoek, Paarl, Stellenbosch, and Swartland.
