Blank Canvas Holdaway Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2023

Grapes for the Blank Canvas Holdaway Vineyard Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc come from a single vineyard in the Dillons Point subregion located on the coastal fringe of the Wairau Valley. This vineyard belongs to the Holdaway family, who have been farming in Marlborough for generations. They practise sustainable viticulture, using their own compost and mulching preparations to maintain organic matter in the soil. The soils are fertile and deep but well-drained, with plenty of minerals; perfect for the nutrient-hungry Sauvignon vines. Near bone-dry, this is a classic expression of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, being 100% tank fermented, but it offers complexity of texture and a mineral drive that summons river stones and sea spray. Blackcurrant, guava and passion fruit are captured alongside the subtlest hint of oyster-shell. This wine is focused and explosive on both nose and palate yet remains elegantly balanced, with distinct salinity.

Find out more on our Delivery Page

Delivery Times

We aim to to have your delivery with you within 5-7 working days of receiving your order, but often it can be much sooner. If you need your order by a certain date please get in touch and we'll do our best to get it to you as required.

Vintage Availability

We endeavour to display accurate and current vintages on all our wines listed on the website; however, from time to time stocks of the vintage listed do become exhausted. If this is the case with your order we will always contact you to recommend another vintage of the same wine, if it is still available. If the vintage of a wine is important to you then please leave a note at checkout advising us of this.

Stock Availability

As we are retail stockists, selling from our Ledston shop as well as online, it makes it difficult for us to show a 'real-time' inventory of our wines and spirits online. As such, very occasionally, a wine may be out of stock that the website has allowed you to order.

To ensure a timely delivery, we are happy to substitute your order with a similar wine of equal or higher value and at no additional cost to you!

If this is not an acceptable solution please advise us in the 'Add A Comment' section at the checkout.

94 Points - Excellent "Intense and new with a pungency and purity, aromas of fresh sage and tropical fruits, a wet stone mineral quality with a fresh apple and wild white flowers suggestions. Lush, fresh, salivation and delicious on the palate. Flavours of citrus and fresh herbs, tropical fruits and white fleshed orchard fruits are contrasted by a saline led acidity, a light satin texture and lengthy finish. Great drinking from 2023 through 2029."

5 Stars ***** "The vigorous, very youthful 2022 vintage (5*) is a single-vineyard wine, grown at Dillons Point, in the lower Wairau Valley, and handled entirely in stainless steel tanks. More subtle than many of the district's wines, it is bright, light lemon/green, with intense, ripe, passionfruit-evoking flavours, a slightly salty streak, and a crisp, dry (2.5 grams/litre of residual sugar), lasting finish. Best drinking mid-2023+."
