Tasca Tenuta Regaleali Rosso del Conte
From the heart of Sicily, Tasca's Tenuta Regaleali Rosso del Conte is an award winning wine made only in exceptional vintages and is a faithful expression of its terroir and the beautiful Vigna San Lucio vineyard where the grapes are grown. In 1959, Conte Giuseppe Tasca, planted the San Lucio bush-trained vineyard in the magical countryside of Tenuta Regaleali, an hour and half’s drive inland from Palermo. He decided to alternate four vines of the powerful Perricone grape variety to every 10 plants of Nero d’Avola. Today, this vineyard is a beautiful plot of 7 hectares and showcases perfectly how these two grape varieties coexist. This vintage is Perricone (48%) and Nero d’Avola (52%) matured for 18 months in new 225 litre French oak barrels. Rosso del Conte is a wine that is exuberant, vibrant and energetic in its youth, yet with ageing it develops a velvety touch, without losing structure and flavour. Certainly a wine for the cellar.
