The Real McCoy 5 Year Old Barbados Rum
The Real McCoy® Rum takes inspiration from legendary Bill McCoy, the pioneer rum runner of the Prohibition era. In January of 1920, McCoy was the first to fill a boat with alcohol in the Caribbean, sail it up to New York City, and legally act as a floating liquor store three miles off shore. McCoy made a name for himself because he delivered only the best quality unadulterated spirits which became know worldwide as The Real McCoy. Produced at the Foursquare Distillery in Barbados this multi award winning collection of rums are completely unadulterated - there are no added sweeteners, flavours, perfumes or chemical stabilisers and only the finest blackstrap molasses and pure Barbados spring water are used. The rum is small batch distilled in a rare artisan combination of copper pot and column stills, then authentically tropically aged in heavy char American Oak bourbon barrels for a full 5 years, resulting in a soft, smooth, well-balanced rum with a luxurious texture. On the nose there is oak, dried fruit, brown sugar, earth notes and vanilla hints. The palate has caramel, toasted almond, buttery cinnamon alongside bourbon-aged oak leading onto a lingering finish with toasted coconut and hint of tobacco.
