Quinta dos Carvalhais Dão Colheita Tinto 2019
The Quinta dos Carvalhais Dão Colheita Tinto is a red wine blend consisting of Touriga Nacional, Alfrocheiro, Tinta Roriz and Jaen Tinto grapes. The grapes were hand harvested by variety and by plot. Upon arrival at the winery the grapes were de stemmed, crushed and then gravity fed into stainless-steel fermentation tanks. The different grape varieties were fermented separately. 55% of the wine was aged in 225 litre used French oak barrels for eight months. At the end of this period, the final blend was assembled, and the wine was fined and filtered before bottling. Ruby red in colour. On the nose this wine boasts aromas of blackberry and plum coupled with floral hints of violet and a subtle spiciness. On the palate, velvety tannins create a smooth mouth feel and a vibrant acidity carries the juicy fruit flavours onto the elegant finish.
