Roberto Sarotto Gavi del Comune di Gavi Bric Sassi 2020
Roberto Sarotto’s Tenuta Manenti estate is perfectly placed to grow exquisite Cortese grapes for their fine Gavi del Comune di Gavi wines; the nutrient poor white soils focussing Cortese’s energy into the fruit and not the leaves. The Gavi del Comune di Gavi ‘Bric Sassi’ is sourced from forty year old vines in the upper, higher part (the ‘bric’) of the single 12 hectare vineyard, strewn with stones (‘sassi’), which consistently provide ethereal, honeydew, white flower Gavi. The grapes are all handpicked, whole bunch pressed and then aged in stainless steel tanks for two months, before a further two months in bottle before release. Arguably the Gavi with the best price to quality ratio available in the UK!
