Adegas Valmiñor Minius Godello 2020
The Minius Godello by Adegas Valmiñor takes its name from the Latin for the river Miño, the natural frontier between southern Galicia and Portugal. It is here, in the Ourense province, that the Monterrei DO is starting to make a comeback from virtual oblivion, having lost 95% of its vineyards to phylloxera in the late 19th century. Made from the fruit of 30-year-old vines grown in the Ladairo valley, the intensity, fruit purity, elegance and length of this wine shows why Gallego winemakers have been so determined to rescue and re-establish the Godello grape. Minius is a lively yellow in colour that offers citrus and floral aromas to the nose. Soft and elegant in the mouth that together with the acidity gives a fresh and persistent finish.
